Girls Circle & Boys Council

The Counseling Center provides Girls Circle and Boys Council free to youth within the community. Girls Circle is an evidence-based program, a structured support group for girls from 10-17 years which integrates relational theory, resiliency practices, and skills training. Girls Circle is designed to increase positive connections, strengths, and competence in girls. Girls experience a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community that offers caring, support, healthy connections, and skills to navigate relational and social-emotional challenges. With these strengths, girls are empowered to grow and develop beyond imposed cultural limitations as connected, active, engaged, and authentic young women. Thirteen Topics: Address a wide range of topics such as friendships, body image, relationships, setting boundaries, coping skills, alcohol, marijuana, family substance use, communication, assertiveness, goals, dreams, self-care, and more.

Boys Council is a strengths-based group approach to promote boys and young men’s safe and healthy passage through pre-teen and adolescent years. In this structured environment, boys and young men gain the vital opportunity to address masculine definitions and behaviors and build capacities to find their innate value and create good lives -individually and collectively 10-17 years of age. There are six topics relevant to male youth development, such as school, power, and status, teamwork, bullying, masculinity beliefs, emotional expression, competition, standing up as allies, respecting boundaries, conflicts, diversity, substance use, relationships with girls, homophobia, and more.

One Circle Foundation's circle models are evidence-based and have been very successful in helping youth to find connections, build assets, improve self-confidence, and lead meaningful, purposeful lives!
